Superbrands, the independent researcher into Brand Influence in the UK has announced its 2011 results, based they say “on the opinions of marketing experts, business professionals and thousands of British consumers”.

Within the Consumer index, Google came in 5th overall and beat Microsoft (6) and Yahoo (217), whilst the Index itself was topped by German automotive manufacturer Mercedes-Benz (1), with Rolex (2) and the BBC (3) making up the Top 3.

In the Business Index however, Microsoft (3) came in ahead of Google (4) and Yahoo (313), the outright winner being Rolls Royce with Blackberry (2) making up the Top 3.

Interestingly it is the first time in the last five years that neither Microsoft nor Google were No.1 in the Consumer Index.
