Banc cruises into strategic role

Banc Media announced today that it is to work with cruise holiday specialist, cruise1st.co.uk.

The remit from the Salford Quays based provider of worldwide cruises is to develop a long-term strategic plan for the company to become a leading provider of cruises to destinations including the Mediterranean, Caribbean, Orlando, Africa, Australasia, Scandinavia and more.

“The aim”, commented Neil Birchall, Client Services Director of Banc Media “is to develop a strategic blueprint for Cruise 1st that aligns their acquisition areas and creates processes and efficiencies that are led from the online channel”.

The UK Cruise market is set to reach 2 million passengers by 2010 with more people using the Internet to research, compare and even purchase large ticket items such as cruise holidays.

“This pattern will continue to grow”, said Martin Cozens, Banc Media’s Managing Director “and we fully expect that Cruise holiday business, generated from Search Engines in particular will increase exponentially as the emerging generation of ‘silver surfers’ will be much more internet-secure rather than insecure than their antecedents”.

Since the acquisition by Royal Caribbean International in 2008, Cruise 1st has been working hard to improve its website and has invested in most online channels to improve its internet profile.

“We know how important the Internet business is for us and we have been channelling budget from other marketing areas into the Internet for some time now”, remarked David Rowlinson, Cruise 1st’s E-Commerce & New Media Manager.

“By appointing Banc Media as our Strategic Online Partner we fully intend on harnessing SEO, PPC, Website Conversion and Digital Media to drive efficiencies within the business. This will translate to a better customer journey on our website and much finer pricing,” he said.
