Banc's SEO team delivers 25% more business to The Orchard Agency

Established 17 years ago, The Orchard Agency successfully delivers creative & marketing recruitment services to the Manchester and Leeds business communities.

As they embraced Online as a new sales channel and relaunched their website in 2009, SEO was at the heart of their Online Marketing Strategy and Banc Media was chosen to deliver it.

Orchard is the largest Northern UK Recruitment Agency specialising in the Digital, Creative & Marketing industries. They are based in Manchester and Leeds.


The Problem

The company had decided to go through a re-brand from ‘Orchard’ and ‘Orchard Suits’ to Orchard Agency bringing their two key areas of Creative Recruitment and Suits (Account Management) Recruitment into one umbrella brand.

A new website and domain name were to be used. This presented a number of challenges. How would we retain a growth in visitors? How do we ensure a smooth transition between the old domain and the new? How do we quickly achieve rank on priority keywords for the new site?

The Objective

To grow website visitor numbers month on month through the transition period and achieve Page 1 results for the new website, based on the original keyword targets.

Our Approach

Being involved in the website development stage was crucial. It was imperative that we created the correct redirect protocol for cached Google results so that those visiting the ‘old’ links were in fact taken to the newly-designed website, hosted on a new domain name.

The new website would benefit from having search engine on-page optimisation carried out at build stage. This ensured an effective SEO implementation pre-launch and prevented any unnecessary intervention once the website was live and indexed with Google.

Our copywriters worked hard to create new unique content that delivered the right brand message for Orchard, without duplicating the old site and that was SEO targeted.

At launch we covered the bases in terms of ensuring an optimised indexing of the website within Google and the other search engines. We enlisted directories, blogs, online publishers amongst others to report on the new website and link back from a content-rich, editorially relevant page on their websites.

Post-launch our continued efforts include the ongoing Off-page optimisation work that looks to improve website page volume and content, external promotion of the website via online publishers and active PR link-ups to complete the routine.

The Outcome
