4th August 2010: The big day has come and my Banc Media adventure begins. Scared but excited at the same time. I was back in the lovely Furness House but this time as a Banc Media employee and not as a graduate hoping to grab the job of my dreams.
Early in the morning Neil and Martin introduced me to lovely Emma (master in PPC), sales-machine Andy and everyone else within the Banc team. And what better way of getting to know them than by making some tea and coffee? Martin was keen to teach me how to brew the perfect tea, while totally disapproving the traditional method.
Afterwards, surprise- surprise: sitting on top of my desk was an eMac, a computer I was unfamiliar with. Fortunately, it only took me a short time to get used to it and now I am very pleased with it.
My first task was to analyse Banc Media’s website, current and prospective clients. Everywhere I looked there was a common element: resounding success. All accounts were reporting achievements, exceeding targets, professionalism, but approachability at the same time. Cruise 1st and Confetti provided clear evidence that after thorough SEO activities and PPC campaigns, their sales increased significantly, generating an impressive ROI of 4-500%. Everything was spot on: the Clicks were increasing while CPC and CPA decreasing and website rankings were improving considerably.
The next day just got better and better. Everything that I read on Wednesday suddenly made a lot more sense. Emma’s helpful insights on PPC brought to mind my Marketing lectures at the University and thanks to the tutorials on Google I can now create and manage an AdWords account. Things quickly progressed from there. Andy gave me some tips on SEO and how he goes about attracting new clients. While listening to him, I could not find any reason why a company would say ‘no’ to us.
Later on, I analysed a couple of monthly reports and applied my knowledge in understanding numbers, graphs and forecasts. I will report everything to Neil later on today so fingers crossed.
Stay tuned to find out how it went and for more Banc Media experiences.
